Pieter Cath, US Masters Records Chairman, Passes Away

SOLON, Ohio, June 13. PIETER Cath, until recently the Chairman of the US Masters Swimming Records & Tabulation Committee and co-director of the 2002 USMS Long Course Nationals, passed away last Friday evening, surrounded by members of his family.

Cath reportedly suffered from lung cancer, which progressed very quickly.

Several weeks ago, when it became clear that Cath's illness was very serious, he resigned as Chair of Records & Tabulation, and was replaced by Mary Beth Windrath.

Ms. Windrath wrote the following: "[Pieter] had been ill for the last couple months. Those of you who have worked with him much know that he was very dedicated and helpful to us. I for one will miss his great knowledge and sense of humor. His passing leaves a deep void."

There will be a reception for Pieter at the Solon Community Center in Solon, OH, on Thursday, June 16th from 4 to 9 PM. The Solon Community Center is located at Portz Parkway which is off Rt 91.
