Texas Swimming Hosts Benefit to Raise Money for Tsunami Victims

AUSTIN, Texas, April 18. OVER the weekend, Texas Men’s Swimming hosted Swim Like an Olympian, a benefit to raise money for the American Red Cross and for victims of the recent tsunami disaster. More than $1,000 was raised during the benefit.

Featuring Olympians Neil Walker and Aaron Peirsol and members of the University of Texas men’s swim team, including Garrett Weber-Gale, the benefit was open to swimmers over the age of eight. The morning event, held at the Rollingwood Poll, included stroke demonstrations, in-water teaching and an autograph session.

Eddie Reese, the head man at Texas and the coach of the United States Men’s Olympic Team Coach, also took part in the event and addressed the participants. Following the clinic, Texas hosted its year-end banquet where Weber-Gale and Matt McGinnis were named the team’s Most Valuable Swimmers.
