NCAA Div. I Men’s Champs, Day 2 Finals: Draganja Goes Low to Take 100 Butterfly Crown

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., March 25. CAL senior Duje Draganja clocked the second-fastest 100 butterfly in history en route to winning the event in a scorching time of 45.39 seconds.

Draganja destroyed the field, recording a winning margin of .79. Trailing slightly after the first 25 split, Draganja poured it on, clocking the fastest times in each of the subsequent splits.

Daniel DiToro of Texas was a distant second, touching in a time of 46.18. Arizona's Lyndon Ferns placed third in 46.33 and Davis Tarwater of Michigan took fourth in a time of 46.64. Fred Bousquet (Auburn) was fifth and Jayme Cramer (Stanford), who recorded the fastest swim in prelims, placed sixth. Daniel Rohleder (Texas) and Matt McDonald rounded out the field in seventh and eighth, respectively.
