Cassidy Maxwell (Indiatlantic, Fla.) led off the relay, followed by Kim Black (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Alison Terry (San Diego, Calif.). Terry had a hard time holding in her emotions on the awards stand.

Winning bronze medals for the U.S. were Katie Zimbone (Needham, Mass.) in the 400m free (4:17.30) and Linda Riker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) in the 200m backstroke (2:13.56).
