Irvine Sweeps Swim Meets Against Northridge

NORTHRIDGE, CA, February 5. THE UC Irvine men's and women's swimming teams each defeated Cal State Northridge Friday afternoon at Matador Pool in Northridge. The women won 121-79 and the men won 125-73, per Anteater sources.

The Anteater women were led by senior Alexis Sheridan who had wins in both the 200 free (1:58.15) and the 500 free (5:08.40). Abby Zern in the 1000 free (10:34.30), Ashley DePaul in the 50 free (25.12), Chelsea Nagata in the 200 IM (2:09.00), Christina Venturacci in the 100 fly (59.26) and Kim Do in the 100 back (1:00.21) were each victorious for UCI as the 'Eaters had the fastest times in seven of the nine individual events.

On the men's side, UCI had seven different men win individual events. Michael Radford in the 1000 free (10:02.37), Brian Buchanan in the 200 free (1:44.74), Randall Tom in the 200 IM (1:54.09), Eric Reilly in the 100 free (47.30), Mike Cohee in the 100 back (52.78), Kareem Adnan in the 500 free (4:43.74) and Dan Simonsen in the 100 breast (58.28).

UCI concludes their dual meet season Saturday in Santa Barbara as they face the UCSB Gauchos at 12:00 p.m.
