Phelps Sets 3 Michigan Pool Marks Swimming Exhibition

ANN ARBOR, Mich., January 23. SIX-TIME Olympic gold medalist and volunteer University of Michigan assistant coach Michael Phelps set three pool records in his first official time trials at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor this weekend.

Nearly 1,400 fans turned out to watch Phelps and the Michigan's men's meet versus Northwestern. The 19 year-old superstar did not disappoint.

Swimming all alone, in Lane 4, Phelps clocked pool records of 1:43.05 in the 200-yard IM, 46.48 in the 100-yard backstroke and 1:34.41 in the 200-yard freestyle. He also swam a swift 43.07 in the 100-yard freestyle.
