Orange Bowl Swim Classic Set for Thursday

KEY LARGO, Florida, December 27. SOME of the nation's finest collegiate swimmers are slated to vie for honors at the second annual Orange Bowl Swimming Classic in Key Largo.

The meet is scheduled for noon, Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Jacobs Aquatics Center, mile marker 99.6 oceanside in Key Largo.

Admission is free to watch the competition.

The Classic is a sprint-style event and headlined by nationally-ranked Indiana University, La Salle and other colleges.

It is a culminating event for the month-long Orange Bowl training session for collegiate swimmers in the Keys.

"It is exciting to host the Orange Bowl Classic in the Upper Keys and to be associated with the Orange Bowl, one of South Florida's premier events," said Dr. Jim Boilini, who serves on the board of directors of Upper Keys Community Pool Inc., also known as Jacobs Aquatic Center.

Other activities centered around the Classic include a Wednesday, Dec. 29, evening welcoming buffet dinner at Sundowner's Restaurant, at MM 104. A post-contest awards luncheon is to commence at the Aquatic Center immediately following the meet.
