Rainbow Wahine Sweep Quad Meet

HONOLULU, HI, December 18, 2004. – THE 19th ranked University of Hawai`i women's swimming and diving squad swept its quadrangular meet tonight over Rice (77-34), Oregon State (70-41), and Dartmouth (96-17) Thursday at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex reports Markus Owens.

The Rainbow Wahine pushed their dual meet record to 11-1 on the season winning its last 11-straight.

Melanie Schlanger and Nicole Mackey each won a pair of events. Schlanger won both the 200 Free (1:52.02) and 100 Free (51.29), while Mackey posted victories in the 200 IM (2:03.17) and 100 Back (55.12).

UH also got solid performances from Dena Quick who won the 50 Free (23.59) and divers QiongJie Huang and Rui Wang who finished in first and second place, posting NCAA Zone E qualifying scores of 304.95 and 259.10, respectively. Huang won the 1-meter springboard and Wang captured the 3-meter.

The last meet of the 2004 year is in two weeks when Hawai`i hosts the Duke Kahanamoku Sprint Meet on Dec. 31 at 1 p.m.
