Hoosiers and Boilermakers Each Sink Salukis and Hawkeyes at IUPUI; SIU Tops Iowa

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. December 7.– WHILE other programs attended invitationals over the weekend, the No. 13 Indiana men's swimming and diving squad chose the excitement of dual meet format, along with Southern Illinois, Iowa and Purdue, and IU picked up a pair of victories over Southern Illinois (156-131) and Iowa (185.50-93.50) on Saturday, Dec. 4 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.

Purdue downed SIU, 180.50-117.50, and Iowa, 208-86. In the final dual of the day, SIU knocked off Iowa, 187-105. Indiana and Purdue did not face off as they will battle later in the season.

"We came into the meet with very heavy training," Head Coach Ray Looze said. "We came out today with a lack of intensity and our spirit was not great. That being said, we showed that we are capable of swimming faster when training permits it. We did some good things after we talked about our intensity in the middle of the meet.
