Florida International Swimmers Perfetti and Cokayne Set School Records on Final Day of Princeton Invitational

MIAMI, FL, December 6. JUNIOR Taryn Cokayne and sophomore Sarah Perfetti put the finishing touches on a strong weekend of swimming and diving for the FIU swimming and diving team at the Princeton Invitational, per Florida International reports.

Both Cokayne and Perfetti set new school records in Sunday's finals of the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard breaststroke, respectively.

For Cokayne, she has cut nearly four seconds off the school mark since the season began with her time of 2:07.97 in Sunday's final. For Perfetti, she broke her own school record in the 200-yard breaststroke in touching the wall in 2:26.97. Perfetti eclipsed the record by 58-hundredths of a second that she established in the program's first-ever meet against Florida State/Florida A&M (Oct. 18), last year.

Also in Sunday's finals, junior Kacie Vivo also wrapped up a strong weekend, setting a season and career-best in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.66. Plus, freshman Lindsey Overman set her second season-best time on the weekend in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:30.22.

The next meet for the Golden Panthers is a dual meet on Thursday, December 30 against Tulane.
