Tigers Set to Host Auburn Tiger Invitational Thursday through Saturday

AUBURN, AL, December 2. AUBURN swimming and diving teams will take their final strokes, twists and turns of the fall season this weekend as the Tigers play host to the three-day Auburn Tiger Invitational beginning on Thursday, Dec. 2, and running through Saturday at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center. Other universities joining the Tigers will be Penn State, South Carolina and Western Kentucky.

The Auburn women own a 1-1 dual meet record and are ranked No. 2 in the latest CSCAA poll behind Georgia. Leading the way thus far for the Tigers has been triple Olympic medalist Kirsty Coventry, who has already collected NCAA automatic times in the 100 and 200 backstrokes as well as the 200 IM.

The Auburn men are 2-0 and sit atop the polls for the third straight poll this season. Heading the list of provisional qualifiers on the men's side is Eric Shanteau, who has NCAA 'B' cuts in both the 200 and 400 IMs.

The event will follow the standard three-day NCAA Championship event order with a prelims and a finals session. Thursday and Friday will have prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. while Saturday the times will shift to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The mile will be swum at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Admission is free.
