Gator Women to Swim in U. S. Open in San Antonio

GAINESVILLE, FL, December 1. UNIVERSITY of Florida’s women have announced they will compete at the U.S. Open, beginning tomorrow and with preliminaries and finals sessions running for three days, as their last meet of 2004. The team will travel to San Antonio, Texas, for the USA Swimming sponsored event.

The women's team enters the tournament with two first-place finishes in invitational action and a 4-1, 1-1 dual meet record. So far this season, the Gator team has garnered 46 NCAA provisional qualifying times, and two of the Orange and Blue swimmers have earned automatic qualifying times, guaranteeing their seat in the NCAA Championships.

The U.S. Open will end the 2004 portion of the 2004-05 season. The Gators will resume play on Jan. 7, after a month break, and will travel to Coral Gables, Fla., to compete in the Miami Invitational, a two-day meet.
