Northwestern Captures Both Titles at NU Relays; Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State Win Diving Invite

EVANSTON, Ill., October 28. BOTH Northwestern's men's and women's swimming teams won all 11 events in Sunday's NU Relays to finish first in the four team competition, per reports from NU.

The Wildcats defeated the University of Illinois-Chicago, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay for the titles.

The annual Relays consisted of 11 events comprised of four three-person relays and seven four-leg events.

Both Wildcat squads opened their seasons Friday with dual meet victories over UW-Milwaukee.

While the Wildcat swimmers participated in the NU Relays in Evanston, Northwestern's divers competed at the UIC Diving Invitational. UIC won the men’s portion of the Invitational 106 – 83 over University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Illinois State won the women’s competition 119 – 92.5, with UW-M again second.

Freshman Ryan McIntosh claimed victory in the men's one-meter while Mike Oxman finished second in the three-meter. For the women, NU's Leanne Dumais placed first in the three-meter and second in the one-meter event.

Despite the individual titles, both squads finished third overall because the other schools had more depth.

Both the men's and women's squads will resume competition Friday, Nov. 5, with a dual meet at Indiana.
