Short Course World Champs, Day Two Finals: Hanson Leads Aussie 1 – 2 Sweep in Women’s 50 Breaststroke

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, October 8. OLYMPIC 100 breaststroke silver medal winner Brook Hanson beat her Australian teammate, new world record holder Jade Edmistone, by a bare .01, :30.20 to :30.21 for the top spot in the Women’s 50 breaststroke.

Hanson has the prettier hardware, while Edmistone is left with the records. Jade picked up the U.S. Open record in the semifinal at :30.01 to go with her world record from Australia’s recent short course nationals.

Tara Kirk (USA), short course world record holder at 100 meters, won bronze at :30.61, exactly equaling her semifinal swim.

Amanda Beard had a good swim at :30.77 for 4th, with Olympic 100 winner Luo Xuejuan (CHN) 5th from her habitual outside lane at :31.15.
