Kurt walked on at Stanford and was several times an NCAA breaststroke champion before leaving his undergrad career at the Farm on his way to becoming a medical doctor. He won six USA Swimming national titles and medaled for the US in both world and Olympic competition, gaining gold in Atlanta for his work in the prelims of the 4 x 100 medley relay.

Kurt and wife Amy have shared some details of this event:

Weight: 9 lbs, 9 oz
Length: 20 inches
Apgars: 9 at 1 minutes, 9 at 5 minutes
