Adam Hinshaw Sets Two National Age-Group Records at the Far Western Championships

SAN JOSE, Calif., August 2. TEN year-old Adam Hinshaw of DeAnza Cupertino Aquatics lowered his 200 and 400 meter freestyle national age group records at the Far Western Championships in San Jose, California held July 28th-August 1st.

Hinshaw swam a 2:14.42 in the 200 free and a 4:36.22, lowering records he set two weeks ago at the Pacific Championships in Concord, California. Hinshaw follows in the footsteps of his 13 year-old brother Ben, who set Pacific records as a 10 and 12 year-old.

The five day meet featured All-Star teams from Mexico, Canada and the Cayman Islands, as well as teams from Arizona and Massachusetts.

DeAnza Cupertino Aquatics won the meet with 1329 points. Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics was second with 1176.5 points followed by the Walnut Creek Aquabears who finished third with 688 points.

10 and under girls: Maddy Shaefer, Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics
11 and 12 girls: Kasey Carlson, Concord Terrapins
11 and 12 boys: Shayne Fleming, DeAnza Cupertino Aquatics
13 and 14 girls: Stephanie Wei, Santa Clara Swim Club
13 and 14 boys: Michael Monovoukas, BGSC, Kamero Flores-Maxfield, PASA 15 and 16 girls: Michelle Liu, DeAnza Cupertino Aquatics
15 and 16 boys: Shaun Fraser, Cayman Islands
17 and 18 girls: Courtney Bayer, Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics
17 and 18 boys: Kyle Leto, Silicon Valley Aquatics Association
