NCAA Men’s Water Polo: Stanford Falls to #1 USC, 15-13

PALO ALTO, CA – The top-ranked USC water polo team tallied four two-point goals enroute to a 15-13 victory over third-ranked Stanford in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game on Saturday at deGuerre Pool.

The Trojans stormed to a 5-0 lead in the first period, and led throughout much of the game, until Stanford tied the game at 9-9 on a goal by Andy Walburger with 48 seconds left in the third period. However, George Csaszar scored a two-point goal with no time remaining in the third period to give the Trojans the lead for good, 11-9. Layne Beaubien led Stanford with three goals.
