Confrence USA Names TCU’s Erin Irons Swimmer of the Week

FORT WORTH, Tex, February 3. THE Conference USA office announced TCU's Erin Irons as its Swimmer of the Week today. This marks the senior's third time in her career as the best in the C-USA. The Midland, Texas duo of Irons and freshman Keleigh Wentworth has managed to lock a TCU monopoly on the award this season, cranking out five weeks between the two of them. Sophomore diver Kelly Seely has also secured four Diver of the Weeks for the Horned Frogs.

Irons leads the league in three individual events, earning the title of fastest Conference USA sprinter in the 50 and 100 free, along with the 100 backstroke title. Nationally, her 50 time (23.48) ranks her at 54th. She has been ranked as high as 99th in the 100 back (57.77).

As a member of the 'A' medley and freestyle relay teams, she helped the Frogs to the fastest time in the 200 free relay (1:38.26) with her own 23.84 split in the meet against North Texas last Wednesday. She also claimed the 50 free (23.67) and the 100 free (52.57).

TCU's women's team won against North Texas 140-92 and is now 11-1 in the season while the men are 8-1. Both the men and women swim at Centenary versus the Ladies and Gents this weekend. The Conference USA Championships and Invite commence Feb. 26-28 in Houston.
