Thompson, Moses to Miss US Nationals

NEW YORK, Feb. 3. AMERICAN record-holders Ed Moses and Jenny Thompson confirmed that they will not be competing at the upcoming US Long Course Championships in Orlando, February 10-14.

Thompson, 31, who won four events at the FINA World Cup meet in New York last weekend, is the most decorated female swimmer in history with 10 Olympic medals (8 of them gold). She will miss the event because she plans to attend a wedding.

Moses, a gold and silver medalist at the 2000 Games in Sydney and winner of 12 straight breaststroke races in the last four World Cup stops — one of them a mind-boggling world record of 2:02.92 for 200 meters breaststroke — says he is going to take a short break from competition.
