Underclassmen Fare Well For University of Richmond

RICHMOND, Virg, February 2. UNIVERSITY of Richmond freshman Megan Riley (Towson, Md.) garnered one of ten first-place finishes, yesterday in the University of Richmond women's swimming and diving team's exhibition meet with Randolph-Macon and the Virginia Masters Swim team. No team scores were kept.

Riley earned her second-career victory in the 200-freestyle at 1:58.19. Freshmen Holly Hinds (Andover, Mass.) and Kara Swift (Haddonfield, N.J.) also claimed top-finishes in the 1000-freestyle (10:37.63) and 100-fly (1:02.19), respectively.

The 200-medley and 200-freestyle relays successfully finished ahead of all swimmers in times of 1:54.55 and 1:42.31, respectively. Both teams were made up of juniors Erin Cuttita (Earlysville, Va.) and Leslie Moatz (Bechtelsville, Pa.), sophomore Brooke Boncher (West Newbury, Mass.) and freshman Emily Bateman (Somers Point, N.J.).

Bateman won the 100 free (53.38), while Boncher claimed the 200 IM (2:09.74) and 100-back (59.44). Junior Mary Adams (Williamsburg, Va.) was the other multi-winner with wins in the 50-free (25.00) and 500-free (5:10.28).
