Ashleye Henyan named FAU Dive Coach

BOCA RATON, Fla, January 15. ASHLEYE Henyan ushered in 2004 as Florida Atlantic University’s Dive Coach, announced Head Swim Coach Steve Eckelkamp. Henyan began practicing with the team January 1 and welcomed Matt Striecher back after recovering from a wrist injury.

Henyan joins the staff with a strong background in diving and gymnastics. The former All-ACC diver at Maryland will bring collegiate experience and the desire to build upon the FAU program, which will move into the Sun Belt Conference as early as next season.

While at Maryland, not only was she involved with the Terps’ Dive Team she also served as the head coach for the Carderock Springs Swim and Tennis Club Inc and served as an assistant coach for the Montgomery Dive Club which trained Junior Olympic World Team Members, Junior National divers and Senior National divers.

As a collegiate diver, Henyan earned All-ACC academic honors her freshman through senior seasons. She is the University of Maryland pool record holder for the 3 meter board (11 dives) and was a member of the All-ACC 3-meter Dive Team in 1999-2000 as well as a 1997-98 1-meter All-America Diver.
