IUPUI’s Bryce Cox and Lindsay Corn Named Mid-Con Athletes of the Week

INDANAPOLIS, Indiana, December 23. THE Mid-Continent Conference has announced that IUPUI diver Bryce Cox (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble/University College) has been named Mid-Con Athlete of the Week for men’s swimming. It is the second consecutive time that Cox has earned the award. IUPUI swimmers have now won Athlete of the Week honors five times this season.

In Saturday’s dual meet with St. Louis, Cox continued his outstanding season by winning both the one-meter and three-meter diving events in dominating fashion. Cox has now won the past seven diving events he’s entered.

Cox’s score of 335.33 points on the one-meter board bettered his own school record in the event by 8.13 points. That beat his closest competitor by 49.05 points. He narrowly missed another school record in the three-meter event with a score of 324.00 points. That was the second-highest score in school history in the event and was just 1.40 points off his previous mark. That easily outdistanced the second-place finisher by 43.65 points.

IUPUI sophomore Lindsay Corn (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli/School of Science) has been named Mid-Continent Conference Athlete of the Week for women’s swimming. It is the third time in her career that she has earned this award.

Corn won the 100 freestyle in the team’s dual meet this past Saturday with St. Louis University. Her time of 55.49 seconds was .80 ahead of the rest of the field. She also swam the leadoff leg of 200 free relay team that splashed to a winning time of 1:45.68.

Corn holds school records in the 50 freestyle (24.26), 200 freestyle (1:56.59) and 500 freestyle (5:20.53) and is a member of the record holding 200 free (1:39.20) and 400 freestyle (3:39.90) relay teams.
