Villanova Signs Local Standout Caitlin Regan

VILLANOVA, Penn, November 25. VILLANOVA University head swimming & diving coach Rick Simpson recently announced the signing of Caitlin Regan, a top high school swimmer from Bensalem, Pa. and Germantown High School, to a National Letter of Intent during the NCAA's early signing period.

One of the area's top swimmers, Regan attends Germantown Academy where she swims for renowned coach Dick Shoulberg. Her most notable events are the 200 breastroke (2:17.8) and 100 breastroke (1:05.0), but she also swims the 400 and 200 IM. In 2003, Regan was the Eastern Interscholastic Champion in the 200 IM. She is a high school All- American in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.

"We are so excited that Caitlin will be joining us next year and continuing the tradition of excellence here at Villanova," said Villanova head coach Rick Simpson. "Caitlin comes from a great H.S. Swimming tradition and a very supportive family situation. We know that she is going to excel here both athletically and academically."

Regan is following in the footsteps of another former Germantown Academy great, Maddy Crippen, who went on to attend Villanova University. Crippen went on to win an NCAA title in the 400 IM as a Wildcat as well as earning a spot on the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team.
