NCAA Div. I: Auburn Tops First Men’s and Women’s Polls

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., October 29. THE University of Auburn Tigers Swimming and Diving teams have pounced atop the first dual meet swimming poll of the season.

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has released its first Division I poll of the 2003-4 NCAA Swimming and Diving season today and Auburn scored all first place votes from the pollsters in both the men’s and women’s rankings.

The Tigers won their first dual NCAA championships in 2003 winning both the men’s and women’s meets in a rare 1-1 punch led by their Head Coaches David Marsh and Kim Brackin. It was one of the few times in history that both men’s and women’s teams from the same university won dual championships in the same year and the only time in recent history that a university with a combined program under the same head coach has won.

The CSCAA dual meet poll is conducted every two weeks throughout the collegiate season and indicates the strength of the top collegiate dual meet teams and not necessarily their predicted finish at the NCAA Championships.

The next poll will take place in two weeks on Nov. 11, 2003 (results on Nov. 13, 2003) with the final poll of the season on March 8, 2003 when a national dual meet champion will be crowned by the CSCAA.
