Pereira Sets Championship Record On Final Night of Brazilian Nationals

SANTOS, Brazil, September 29, THIAGO Pereira set a Championship record in the men’s 200 IM on the final night of Brazilian Nationals this past weekend in Santos. Pereira would finish in 2:03.95, ahead of Lucas Salatta who finished over a second behind in 2:05.11.

Ukraine’s Nikolaychuk Volodymyr, representing Pinheiros Swim Club, took the men’s 100 backstroke ahead of his "teammate" Rogerio Aoki Romero, who finished in 56.96.

Flavia Delaroli took the top spot in the women’s 100m free in dominant fashion, winning the final by over a second in 56.79. It was an easy win for Delaroli, still a half second off her national record from this past April.

Argentinean sprint king Jose Martins Meolans added another title with a win in the men’s 100 freestyle, winning a close race in 50.54. Marco Antonio Sapucaia was a close second in 50.72

Other event winners include: Fabiola Pulga Molina, women’s 100 back, 1:04.38; Mariana Ueno Pimenta Katsuno, women’s 100 breaststroke, 1:14.86; Eduardo Aquiles Fischer, men’s 100 Breaststroke, 1:03.78; Joanna Maranhao, women’s 200 IM, 2:19.62.
