David Meca Wins Port of Barcelona 3K

BARCELONA, Spain, September 23. DAVID Mecca, competing for his club team Atlètic Barceloneta, won the 76th passage of the Port of Barcelona, a 3K open water race which was held this past weekend.

Mecca took silver in the 25K and bronze in the 10K this past summer at this past summer’s 10th FINA World Championships, and took the top spot here over 800 other competitors. He covered the 3,000 meter course with a time of 34:14, one second ahead of Olaf Wildeboer. In third was Javier Herbas with 34:41.

The women’s race was dominated by Esther Núñez, winning in 38:17, with Elena Martinez touching in second with 39:31, and third was Aina Llop in 40:34.
