Ryk Neethling Named to South African Olympic Swim Team

TUCSON, Ariz., August 27. BASED on Swimming South Africa and the National Olympic Committee of South Africa's qualifying times for the 2004 Olympic Games, Ryk Neethling officially qualified for the South
African Olympic Swim Team.

Neethling will be competing in the 50 meter, 100 meter and the 4×100 freestyle providing two swimmers do not swim faster than Neethling's current qualifying times. Swimmers will have until May 2004 to qualify for the Olympics which starts in August 2004 in Athens, Greece.

The premier swimmer, who participated in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, will be continuing his quest for the gold at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. With 12 months until the Olympic Games, Neethling continues to train with Frank Busch, his well-regarded college coach at the University of Arizona.

Other swimmers that have qualified include Roland Schoeman (Tucson, Ariz.) 50 Free, 4×100 free relay; Eugene Botes (University Park, PA) 100 butterfly; Terence Parkin (Durban, South Africa) 200 breaststroke.
