Water Polo: Injury Leaves Humbert Questionable For Goodwill Games

From www.uswp.org
Colorado Springs, CO – Chris Humbert, star of the USA Men’s National Team and MVP of the 1997 FINA World Cup, broke his left hand while playing in the Greek league. The injury puts Humbert out of the Greek Championship playoffs and he is questionable for the Goodwill Games.

Humbert broke his shooting hand (left) when it hit either the head or fist of a defender while taking one of his patented backhand shots in a game two weeks ago. He had surgery with the hope that he could be back in time for the Greek League playoffs.

“I am out for the playoffs,” Humbert said. “My hand is not doing so well and I don’t know whether I will be able to play by the Goodwill Games. I am getting the pins in my hand removed on July 8, so I will have to see how my hand is feeling and whether I will be able to play. I’ve never had a serious injury like this before. I hate it.”
