Manhattan Island Swim Set for June 14; Volunteers Needed

NEW YORK, June 6. THE 22nd Manhattan Island Marathon Swim – an annual, 28.5-mile swim around Manhattan – is one of the world’s premier long-distance, open-water swimming events. The 22nd annual Manhattan Island Marathon Swim will take place Saturday, June 14.

More than 100 volunteers are needed to help this year’s field of international swimmers travel safely and smoothly around the Island. Volunteers are needed to assist with morning boat coordination and swimmer registration, operate the swim’s command center in Battery Park, serve as boat officials (a unique opportunity to board a swimmer’s support boat and spend the day traveling around Manhattan) and staff the closing ceremonies.

There will be one brief orientation session for volunteers the week of June 9. All volunteers will receive a Manhattan Island Marathon t-shirt and are invited to the post-swim party at the 79th Street Boat Basin.
