SWIM BIZ: Speedo To Launch New Website

LOS ANGELES, Calif, May 8. SPEEDO, the number one brand of swimwear in the world, announced today it will re-launch its existing site with a new web address: www.speedousa.com.

Beginning May 15, the new web address will enable Speedo to better channel its efforts of serving customers in the United States. The address www.speedo.com will now function as the brand’s global marketing site.

Since 1998, www.speedo.com has been primarily a successful e-commerce vehicle. Today, Speedo looks to make some initial changes that will continue to increase its marketing messages and ultimately provide its customers and aquatic fans with up-to-date information on new product developments, as well as information about Speedo-sponsored athletes and events.

Currently featured on the site is information regarding Speedo's 75th anniversary, as well as the Speedo Fastskin swimsuit, introduced prior to the 2000 Olympic Games. In the coming months, Speedo will integrate content pertaining to its 2004 U.S. Olympic Committee license, along with information and updates from the more than 30 Olympic-caliber athletes the company currently sponsors, including Olympic gold medalists Jenny Thompson and Lenny Krayzelburg, as well as world record-holder Michael Phelps.

"In 2003, Speedo is continuing to refocus its marketing efforts, embarking on one of the most aggressive campaigns in the company’s 75-year history,” said Craig Brommers, Vice President of Marketing. "In addition to reaching out to consumers through advertisements in both print publications and on national broadcasts, a company first, Speedo also looks to better serve the American market by re-launching a site that will address the specific needs of our consumers here in the United States."
