Auburn’s Eileen Coparropa Named SEC’s Female Athlete of the Week

AUBURN, Ala., Jan. 30. AUBURN junior swimmer Eileen Coparropa was named the Southeastern Conference's female Athlete of the Week following her dominating performance in the top-ranked Tigers' dual meet victory over No.2 Florida on Friday, Jan. 24.

Coparropa improved her "A" cut time in the 50 free by .02 to 22.58 as she and teammate Becky Short finished 1-2. Her first place finished in the 50 free and 100 free helped Auburn remain unbeaten in 29 consecutive meets. The junior also swam the freestyle leg for the first place 200 medley relay team in the win over Florida.

The award is the first for the 11-time All-American and is the first time this season that an AU swimmer has been named the conference's athlete of the week.
