NCAA Div. I Women: Richmond Downs William & Mary, Loses a Squeaker to Penn

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 16. THE University of Richmond women's swimming team defeated William and Mary 200 to 100, but fell to Pennsylvania this
afternoon, 152.5 – 147.5 at the Robins Center Natatorium.

Pennsylvania scooped up eight first place finishes, while William & Mary grabbed two. The Spiders record
now stands at 4-4.

Sophomore Mary Adams (Williamsburg, Va.) claimed first place in three events for Richmond: 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly, and 500-yard freestyle.

Teammate freshman Brooke Boncher (West Newbury, Mass.) also grabbed two first place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.

Richmond freshman Anne Kirchner (Winter Park, Fla.), senior Elizabeth Cook (Rockville, Va.), sophomore Laura Thomas, and freshman Lucy Carrig (Richmond, Va.) finished in the top-three.

Senior diver Katie Shipe (Mendon, N.Y.) swept both 1-meter and 3-meter events. Freshman Laura MacHaffie (Concord, Mass) grabbed third in the 1-meter and fourth in 3-meter.

Spider swimming dives back into action at the Maryland Invitational November 21-23.
