By Phillip Whitten

Fort Lauderdale, Aug. 12. Seventeen year-old Michael Phelps smashed Tom Dolan's American record in the 200m Individual Medley tonight, touching in 1:58.68. Dolan's mark was 1:59.77, swum at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where he won silver.
