Caroline Krattli Slashes Own Masters Mark

By Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 4. SWIMMING just one week shy of her fortieth birthday, San Diego Swim Master Caroline (Hart) Krattli slashed over five seconds off her own USMS National 35-39 age group record for the 200-yard breaststroke with a mind-boggling 2:19.66. The speedy 39 year-old split a 1:06.86/1:12.80 at a USA swim meet on January 26th, in El Cajon, CA.

The previous record stood at 2:25.45, which Krattli swam in 2000. Interestingly, in 2001 Krattli swam a faster time of 2:23.61 but meet officials never verified the time and record remain fixed at the slower time. Consequently, Krattli has some "un-finished business" to take care of before aging up to the 40-44 age group.

In addition to the new mark set last week, Krattli over the past year has left a path of destruction behind her a she set either a new USMS national and/or FINA world record in every breaststroke event offered.

Look out 40-44 age group…here comes Caroline!
