NCAA Div. I: Lauren Stinett Takes Three as George Mason Sweeps Davidson

FAIRFAX, Va, Jan. 12. THE George Mason Patriots made a clean sweep today, defeating the Davidson College Wildcats in a CAA dual meet this afternoon. The men won, 137-89, while the women won 143-99.

Highlights of the afternoon were newcomer Lauren Stinnett (Southern Methodist), a transfer who competed in her first meet today. Stinett smashed three school records: the 100 back, at 59.30, the 200 butterfly, at 2:03.22, and the 500 freestyle, at 5:07.03. In addition, sophomore Ashley Craw (Nashville, TN)
qualified for the NCAAs in one-meter diving.

Coach Peter Ward was pleased with his team’s effort today, and will reward them by giving them their first day off tomorrow since winter training began on January 2.

"They swam well, especially considering how hard they
have been working lately," said Coach Ward.

Next up for Patriot Swimming will be on Friday, January 18, when they host local opponent Howard at 6 pm.
