NCAA Div. I: USC Sweeps Cal, Santa Barbara

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5. THE University of Southern California Trojans swept the Gauchos of the University of California at Santa Barbara in dual meets today.

The Trojan men won 202-60, while the USC women triumphed 185-77. USC took first place in every event, and swept the top three spots in five men's events and two women's.

Tamas Kerekjarto and Erik Vendt each won three individual events for the men of USC. Kerekjarto took the 1000 free in 9:30.78, then won back-to-back events, the 50 free (21.04) and the 100 free (45.440.

Vendt won the brute squad events, winning a close race in the 200 fly (1:50.84), and then taking the 500 free (4:36.90) and 400 IM (3:57.74).

Trent Staley was a double winner, sweeping the 100 (51.50) and 200 yard backstroke (1:50.05).

Michala Kwasny was a triple winner for the Trojan women. She emerged the winner in the 200 free (1:52.05), 200 breast (2:17.54) and 400 IM (4:25.61).

Jenny Parmenter and Jana Krohn each won two events. Parmenter took the 100 breast (1:05.16) and 50 free (23.77), while Krohn won both flys, going 56.40 for the 100 and 2:02.18 for the double century.
