Poll of the Week: Which College Coaching Announcement Surprised You the Most?

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 18. FOR this week's question we go to all the recent news surrounding recent staff changes on some university swim teams here in the United States. Which of the following four coaching announcements surprised you the most? Was it Roric Fink's hiring as assistant women's coach at Texas? Was it Skip Kenney's retirement at Stanford? Was it Dennis Pursley's appointment as head coach at Alabama or Jim Richardson's retirement at Michigan? Go to swimmingworldmagazine.com/poll right now to submit your vote, and we'll let you know the results in next Friday's show.

Last week, with the USA Swimming Grand Prix making a stop in Charlotte, we thought it would be a good time to ask you what you thought of the prize money given out in the Grand Prix. Currently, only a $20,000 cash prize is given to the overall points winner of the series, and based on our last poll, a majority of readers would like that to change. A little more than 59 percent said per-race cash prizes should also be offered at the meets, while 22.22 percent wanted to do away with the overall grand prize and just give out per-race cash awards. Eleven percent want to keep the current prize system, while 7.41 percent wanted to give no cash prizes in the Grand Prix.
