Beth Baker Smashes Two More Masters World marks

VIRGINIA BEACH, Vir., Nov. 4. BETH Baker continued her one-woman assault on the Masters world records in the women's 40-44 age group at the Virginia Masters Short Course Meters Fall Meet in Virginia Beach, VA. today.

Baker clocked 1:08.24 in the 100 meters backstroke and 2:28.03 for the 200 meters. Laura Val held the national and world records in the 100 with a 1:10.45, and the USMS record in the 200 with a 2:34.04. England's Lesley wilde held the previous 200 meters world mark at 2:32.88.

Baker just missed her own world record in the 100 meter fly, clocking 1:05.51. Her record, set last April, is 1:05.49. "I swam the race more intelligently this time," she said, "but my conditioning isn't quite what it was in April."
