Norway Long Course Championships: Alexander Dale Oen Moves Into Top 10, Sara Nordenstam Doubles

DRAMMEN, Norway, July 9. THE first of four days of action began with a top-10 effort at the Norway Long Course Championships held in Drammen.

Alexander Dale Oen smoked the men's 50 breast in 27.56 for the win. That effort skyrocketed him from 24th in the world rankings to seventh overall. Aleksander Hetland earned second in 27.99, just outside of the top 25, while Bernt Seyffarth grabbed third in 29.16.

Sara Nordenstam won the women's 400 IM in 4:46.29, while Veronica Orheim Bjorlykke touched second in 5:03.44. Jacqueline Knutsson finished third in 5:06.45. Nordenstam followed that up with a share of the women's 100 breast title. She and Katharina Stiberg clocked matching 1:10.02s in the finale. Stina Kajsa Colleou earned third in 1:12.63.

Cecilie Johannessen turned in a 2:01.66 to win the women's 200 free. Victoria Loken (2:03.50) and Ingvild Snildal (2:05.57) placed second and third. Snildal later won the women's 50 back in 29.50. Bryndis Run Hansen finished second in 30.42, while Marte Stamland took third in 31.30.

Gard Kvale claimed the men's 400 free in 3:58.96, while Morten Bordervich touched second in 4:06.27. Oscar Slaatmo clinched third in 4:06.83. Sindri Jakobsson touched first in the men's 100 fly with a 55.64. Alexander Broberg Skeltved placed second in 56.54, while Oystein Hetland wound up third in 56.70.

Eirik Ravnan topped the men's 200 IM in 2:08.08. Marco Aldabe Bomstad (2:08.62) and Sebastian Wigstrom (2:09.46) earned second and third, respectively.

In relay action, Victoria Loken, Christine Pedersen, Sofie Gjemmestad and Gina Andersen won the women's 400 free relay in 3:55.61, while Lavrans Solli, Marco Aldabe Bomstad, Gard Kvale and Alexander Broberg Skeltved captured the men's 800 free relay in 7:40.62.
