CIF Southern Section High School Championships

IRVINE, California, May 20. THE CIF Southern Section High School Masters Championships took place Tuesday, May 17 at the William Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine.

Girls Results
La Canada's Katy Campbell and Crean Lutheran's Lindsey Engel both doubled with individual wins. Campbell took both the 200 (1:48.66) and 500 free. Engle, meanwhile, set a Masters' meet record of 49.75 win the 100 fly, and she also took first in the 100 back (54.96). Ayala's Ashley Tse took the 200 IM (2:03.56), while Arroyo Grande's Amelia Schachter earned the 100 breast win (1:04.39). Valencia's Sophie Fiscella won the 50 free (24.16) and Irvine's Emily Jiang the 100 free (55.87).

University's team of Emma Henrderson, Erin Parrett, Megan Rankin, and Maggie Burton won the 200 free relay in 1:38.35 while Glendora won both of the other relays on the meet program. Gretchen Jaques, Courtney McCadden, Kelly Sorso, and Rosemary Garcia won the 200 medley relay (1:49.69), and McCadden, Ellie Jaques, Garcia, and Gretchen Jaques took the 400 free relay (3:35.93). Poly/Pasadena's Annika Lenz won the one meter diving competition with 357.10 points.

Boys Results
Bloomington's Michael Haney won both the 100 free (44.84) and 200 free at Masters; in the later, he established a new meet record of 1:37.70. Rounding out the freestyle wins, Mission Viejo's Steven Ewoldt took the 50 free (20.4) and Sonora's Brennan Jacobsen the 500 free (4:26.54). Thousand Oaks' David Armstrong won the 100 fly (48.90), while Mark Keppeks' David Jalk won the 100 back (51.34), and Arroyo Grande's Zach Stevens took first in the 100 breast (56.78).

Crescenta Valley's Young Tae Seo won the 200 IM (1:50.35) and led teammates to two relay victories. Harrison Thai, Andrew De Jong, Seo, and Louis Wojciechowski won the 200 medley relay (1:35.58), while Wojciechowski, Josh Chi, Thai, and Seo took the 400 free relay (3:10.51). Los Alamitos touched first in the 200 free relay (1:27.67) with Joe Ferretti, Justin Kelley, Chandler Jarrels, and Max Merrill providing the firepower. Meanwhile, Poly/Long Beach's Deon Reid won one meter diving with 404.00 points.
