Russian Long Course Championships: Yuliya Efimova, Anastasia Zueva Shine on Day Four

MOSCOW, Russia, April 21. THE competitors at the Russian Long Course Championships continued to put up world-class times in Moscow during day four of swimming.

Yuliya Efimova dominated the women's 50 breast with a winning time of 30.46, becoming just the third sub-31 swimmer this year to move to second in the rankings. Leiston Pickett (30.24) and Jennie Johansson (30.98) are the other two swimmers to dip under 31 seconds. Ekaterina Baklakova touched second in 31.87, while Valentina Artemyeva posted a third-place time of 31.90.

Anastasia Zueva betterd 28 seconds to win the women's 50 back in 27.99. She moved to third in the world rankings behind Aya Terakawa (27.79) and Gao Chang (27.98). Maria Gromova touched a distant second in 28.91, while Kseniya Moskvina earned third in 29.06.

Andrei Grechin snatched the men's 50 free crown in 22.13, moving to eighth in the world rankings. Sergei Fesikov touched second in 22.25, while Nikita Konovalov earned third in 22.36 with both snaring top 15 rankings.

Stanislav Donets picked up the men's 200 back title in 1:58.37, while Arkady Vyatchanin earned second in 1:59.47. Donets improved to ninth in the world rankings with the swim. Anton Anchin touched third in 2:00.37.

Veronika Popova raced to victory in the women's 200 IM with a 2:12.87, jumping to 11th in the world rankings. Efimova took second in 2:13.71, while Ekaterina Andreyeva placed third in 2:14.65. Efimova moved into the top 20 with her performance.

Nikolai Bulakhov topped the men's 800 free finale in 7:59.77, while Evgeny Kulikov touched shortly behind with a second-place 7:59.81. Both performances are among the top 15 in the world rankings. Aleksei Solpekovskiy wound up third in 8:03.79.

In semifinal action, Nikolay Skvortsov led the men's 200 fly qualifying with a 1:58.84, while Irina Bespalova paced the women's 100 fly in 59.39. Popova earned the top seed in the women's 200 free with a 2:01.10.
