Australian Long Course Championships: Leiston Pickett Sets All Comers Record With World Best

SYDNEY, Australia, April 8. THE Australian Long Course Championships came to a close with another world best that also served as an All Comers record.

Leiston Pickett lowered the All Comers record in the women's 50 breast with a 30.24 for the win. That swim beat Jade Edmistone's previous mark of 30.31, but fell short of Sarah Katsoulis' national standard of 30.16. Pickett also pushed to the top of the world rankings with her swim. Leisel Jones (31.13) and Natasha Waitzer (31.36) placed second and third.

Olivia Halicek won the women's 50 free title in 24.88 to take fourth in the rankings, while Yolane Kukla touched second in 24.92 for sixth in the world. Sophie Edington clocked a 25.05 for third, while Bronte Campbell placed fourth in 25.12.

Stephanie Rice topped the women's 400 IM with a 4:38.61 to move to sixth in the world rankings. Samantha Hamill took second in 4:40.43, while Blair Evans rounded out the top three in 4:40.86.

Thomas Fraser-Holmes improved to 11th in the world rankings with a winning 4:16.75 in the men's 400 IM. Mitch Larkin placed second in 4:17.52, while Daniel Tranter earned third in 4:21.22.

Ashley Delaney earned the men's 50 back title in 25.52, while Hayden Stoeckel touched second in 25.54. Daniel Arnamnart posted a third-place 25.97. Jarrod Killey captured the men's 1500 free in 15:18.85, while Wally Eggleton took second in 15:19.13. Trent Grimsey placed third in 15:23.55.

In multi-disability events, Tanya Huebner was listed first in the women's 50 breast with a 47.46, while Blake Cochrane was listed first in the men's 50 breast with a 37.57. Kayla Clarke was listed first in the women's 100 fly in 1:10.65, while Mitch Kilduff was listed first in the men's 100 fly with a 1:02.03.

Larkin, Leith Brodie, Grant Irvine and Kenrick Monk topped the men's 400 medley relay in 3:45.74.
