USA Swimming Announces Four New Hires in Business Development Division

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, March 24. USA Swimming today announced that Talia Mark (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.), Emily Silver (Bainbridge Island, Wash.), Amanda Rost (Palatine, Ill.) and Matt Whewell (Bristow, Va.) will join the business development division at USA Swimming.

Talia Mark will join USA Swimming as a Marketing Manager, overseeing the Make a Splash with Cullen Jones Tour presented by ConocoPhillips. She will also oversee USA Swimming's diversity marketing programs. Mark comes to USA Swimming from NASCAR, where she served as the manager of Diversity Affairs. There, she oversaw campaigns to expose NASCAR to a more diverse fan base, including creating marketing plans for NASCAR's first show on BET – Changing Lanes – and running NASCAR's annual Diversity Affairs Awards. She also developed NASCAR's college outreach program – NASCAR Kinetics: Marketing in Motion. The program is currently running in 12 universities and impacts thousands of college students every semester. Mark is a graduate of Central Michigan University and has done speaking engagements at multiple universities and conferences.

Olympic silver medalist (2008) Emily Silver will take on the newly-created position of Athlete Relations Manager at USA Swimming. Silver will serve as the primary contact for the 33 USA Swimming National Team swimmers who are a part of the USA Swimming's new Athlete Partnership Agreement. She will manage athlete appearances associated with the agreement and will also run the USA Swimming Family Program. Silver has worked as an assistant swim coach at the Bainbridge Island Swim Club in Washington, and has also worked for lululemon athletica in Berkeley, Calif. At lululemon athletica, Silver coordinated grassroots promotional events and built a network of instructors to promote the brand and managed a research and development program for the store. She graduated from the University of California-Berkeley and was a 20-time college All-American and team co-captain.

Rost will join USA Swimming as Marketing Manager, Corporate Services. She will focus on executing and enhancing sponsor engagement and activation through USA Swimming's event, television and membership programs. She comes to USA Swimming from U.S. Figure Skating where she worked as a marketing coordinator, managing sponsorship activation and corporate hospitality. Prior to joining U.S. Figure Skating, Rost worked with the U.S. Olympic Committee where she handled National Governing Body business development and capability enhancement. Rost is a graduate of the University of Louisville.

Matt Whewell joins USA Swimming as the PR & Digital Communications Coordinator where he will handle USA Swimming sports information and media relations duties, assist with the company's social media efforts and help promote the appearances related to the Athlete Partnership Agreement. For the past two years, Whewell worked for the Cleveland Indians as the Media Relations Assistant. Prior to his work with the Indians, he was a media relations trainee with the Atlanta Braves. He also held internships with the Cleveland Browns' communications department and the University of Akron's athletic department. Whewell is a graduate of the University of Akron.

Mark and Rost will join the USA Swimming staff in April while both Silver and Whewell will begin their posts mid-March. All three hires will work to enhance the overall goals of the Business Development Division at USA Swimming which works to help grow and promote the sport of swimming in the Unites States.
