British Long Course National Championships: Roberto Pavoni, Hannah Miley, David Davies Strong in Final Day

MANCHESTER, England, March 12. THE British Long Course National Championships came to a close with a few more world-class times after what had been a remarkable meet throughout the past week.

Roberto Pavoni threw down a top-ranked time in the men's 400 IM with a sparkling 4:13.37. That effort clipped the 4:13.38 set by Ous Mellouli in February. Joseph Roebuck took second in 4:14.02 to move to third in the world, while Thomas Haffield snatched third in 4:17.56.

Hannah Miley captured the women's 400 IM title in 4:39.12, just missing her top-ranked time of 4:38.47 set at the Duel in the Pool in February. Kate Hutchinson finished second in 4:46.55, while Emma Smithurst took third in 4:49.55.

David Davies won the men's 1500 free in 15:06.44, moving to second in the world behind only Ous Mellouli's 15:01.65 from last month. Daniel Fogg (15:08.15) and Tom Allen (15:15.66) finished second and third in the event.

Fran Halsall moved into the top five in the world in the women's 50 free with a winning time of 25.08. Amy Smith (25.45) and Emma Wilkins (25.83) finished second and third. Liam Tancock grabbed third in the world in the men's 50 back with a 24.95. Craig McNally (25.92) and Luke Wood (26.43) completed the podium.

Kathryn Johnstone won the women's 50 breast in 32.47, while Sara Lougher placed second in 32.58. Avril Kiritschenko captured third-place honors in 32.70.
