UC Davis vs. UC Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, California, January 29. LINDA Hermann and Kayleigh Foley each earned a win for UC Davis, but the Aggie women's swimming and diving team dropped a slim 190-110 decision to UC Santa Barbara in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation dual meet Saturday at Campus Pool in Santa Barbara.

UC Davis closes out the 2010-11 dual meet season with an overall record of 9-4 and a 4-2 mark in the MPSF. UC Santa Barbara is now 7-3 overall and also defeated Pacific 219-60.

After winning three events Friday against Cal Poly, Hermann won the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:53.05 and finished second in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:04.60. She earned a second place finish in the 200 individual medley clocking in at 2:07.66 and paced the 200 medley "A" relay to a second place finish. Hermann joined Liliana Alvarez, Megan Leung and Kayleigh Foley in a final time of 1:47.12.

Foley won the 100 freestyle in a time of 51.94 and swam the third leg of the Aggies' 400 freestyle "A" relay which finished second in a time of 3:34.95. She also finished fourth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.95.

Alvarez took second in both breaststroke events, recording a time of 1:04.43 in the 100 breast and a time of 2:21.19 in the 200 breast.

Jennifer Meyer and Erica Stricker went one-two in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Meyer won the low board with a score of 225.38 while Stricker finished second with a score of 212.85. Meyer then repeated her victory on the high board with a season-high score of 234.30 and Stricker finished just behind her with a score of 204.90.

UC Davis returns to competition Feb. 23 at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimming and Diving Championships. The conference meet runs until Feb. 26 and will be held at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif.
