Austrian Team Meet: Birgit Koschischek Picks Up Four Individual Wins

EISENSTADT, Austria, January 23. SVS-Schwimmen and Eisenstadter Schwimmunion emerged victorious in the women's and men's team title competitions at the short course meter Austrian Team Meet held this weekend.

SVS-Schwimmen tallied 14,391 points, while ASV Raiffeisen Linz (14,298) and SVS Simmering (14,047) also cleared 14,000 points to comprise the top three in the women's competition.

Birgit Koschischek had a strong meet with four wins. She topped the women's 100 fly in 59.48 on the first day, then returned with a 1:11.36 in the women's 100 breast and a 2:13.61 in the women's 200 fly for her second and third victories. She also touched first in the women's 100 free with a 55.30.

Bernhard Wolf also collected a title trifecta with wins in the men's 100 fly (55.73), men's 1500 free (16:02.31) and men's 400 free (3:59.02) in order.

Jordis Steinegger walked away with three victories including the women's 200 back (2:13.31), women's 400 free (4:18.49) and women's 200 IM (2:18.21).

Eisenstadter Schwimmunion posted 14,829 points among the men with Welster Turnverein 1862 (13,706) and Schimm-Union-Wien (13,335) taking second and third among the men.

Christina Strigl won the women's 200 breast in 2:34.23, while Maxim Podoprigora topped the men's 200 breast in 2:16.44. Sebastien Stoss turned in a 2:00.76 for the men's 200 back crown, while Anais Szekendi finished first in the women's 800 free with a 9:02.91.

Thomas Narnhofer touched out Podoprigora, 1:03.83 to 1:03.94, in the men's 100 breast. Wolf picked up his second win of the second day with a 2:01.64 in the men's 200 fly.

Fabienne Nadarajah clinched the women's 100 back in 1:01.97, while Stoss snatched his second title of the meet with a 56.40 in the men's 100 back. Dietmar Stockinger pocketed the men's 100 free in 52.48. Dominik Dur touched out Wolf, 2:05.12 to 2:05.15, in the men's 200 IM.

In relay action, Sabine Freinek, Johanna Gerstbauer, Elen Neureiter and Sofia Felgitscher won the women's 200 medley relay in 2:08.52. Sebastien Stoss, Maxim Podoprigora, Felix Beinert and Marcel Schaufler took home the men's 200 medley relay in 1:47.55.

Alexandra Minkova, Marie-Theres Zeilinger, Katharina Himmler and Maria Batliner topped the women's 200 free relay in 1:48.73, while Sebastian Pechlof, Andreas Gusenbauer, Martin Lehner and Helmut Ziegler won the men's 200 free relay in 1:41.16.
