Olympians, Paralympians and Olympic Hopefuls Meet With Politicians Today

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 20. UNITED STATES Olympians, Paralympians and Olympic hopefuls will join with
U.S. Senators and members of the House of Representatives today for an "Olympic Day Luncheon" in observance of the 105th Anniversary of the Modern Olympic Games. Hosted by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado) and Rep. Jim Ryun (R-Kansas), the event is scheduled from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. in Room 216 of the Hart Senate
Office Building.

Among the outstanding athletes joining in the celebration will be swimming Olympians Kim Black, Tom Dolan, Ed Moses and Dara Torres. Paralympic swimmers Karen Norris, Beth Scott and Erin Popovich will also be on Capitol Hill.

Other athletes attending will be: Robert Dover (equestrian), Nina Fout (equestrian), Cheryl Haworth (weightlifting), Donna Weinbrecht (freestyle skiing) and Michael Weiss (figure skating); Paralympians Sarah Billmeier (alpine skiing), Mary Cowart (track & field), Scott Douglas (tennis), Robert Evans (track & field), Thomas Neal (cycling), Paul Nitz (track &
field), and Chris Waddell (track & field); and Olympic hopefuls Tricia Byrnes (snowboard), Lincoln DeWitt (skeleton) and Lea Ann Parsley (skeleton).
