DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, December 19. SOUTH Africa's Chad Le Clos utilized a strong finish to win the men's 200 fly at the FINA World Short Course Championships.

Le Clos touched out Brazil's Kaio Almeida and Hungary's Laszlo Cseh at the finish with a winning 1:51.56 that included a 28.41 final split. He finished second in the world rankings and crushed his African record of 1:53.16 set in Nov. 2009.

Almeida nearly caught Le Clos down the stretch with a 28.15 final split to finish second in 1:51.61 for third in the rankings, while Cseh placed third in 1:51.67.

Australia's Chris Wright touched fourth overall in 1:51.85, while China's Wu Peng paid for going out too fast with a 1:22.03 at the 150-meter mark to take fifth in 1:51.92. Wu did, however, break his Chinese record of 1:52.36 set back in 2006. Poland's Marcin Cieslak (1:53.09), USA's Bobby Bollier (1:53.61) and Australia's Jayden Hadler (1:53.61) completed the championship heat.
