FINA World Short Course Championships: Brazil’s Cesar Cielo Posts Meet Record in 100 Free Victory

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, December 19. AFTER a difficult Pan Pacific Championships, Brazil's Cesar Cielo refocused and put on a show at the FINA World Short Course Championships this week.

Cielo added the men's 100 free title to his win in the 50 free earlier in the meet. Cielo clocked a time of 45.74 to beat his top-ranked time of 45.87 set at the Jose Finkel Trophy Meet, and downed his meet record of 46.01 set earlier in the meet.

France's Fabien Gilot snagged second in 45.97, while Russia's Nikita Lobintsev finished third overall in 46.35.

France's Alain Bernard (46.37), Australia's Matthew Abood (46.40), USA's Nathan Adrian (46.44), Italy's Luca Dotto (46.68) and Sweden's Stefan Nystrand (46.81) earned the rest of the championship finishes.
