FINA World Short Course Championships: Therese Alshammar Earns Top Seed Out of 100 Fly Semis

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, December 18. THE top seed in the women's 100 fly finale went to Sweden's Therese Alshammar at the FINA World Short Course Championships.

Alshammar ripped off a 55.99 for the semifinal win, well short of her top-ranked season best of 55.53 from the Stockholm stop of the World Cup. Australia's Felicity Galvez took second this evening in 56.19 to improve her third-ranked season best of 56.34 from the Australian Short Course Championships in July.

USA's Christine Magnuson finished third overall in 56.55, while China's Liu Zige qualified fourth in 56.63.

Denmark's Jeanette Ottesen (56.74), The Netherlands' Inge Dekker (56.85), China's Lu Ying (56.99) and USA's Dana Vollmer (57.00) all garnered lanes in the championship heat.
